Monica Anderson, DDS ’88, has maintained many careers since her graduation from the School of Dentistry 35 years ago. She brought all those experiences with her to provide wisdom and guidance as the 2023 commencement speaker. 

The annual event honors and celebrates graduates who have achieved special recognition for their dedication to excellence in specialties, clinical care, research, patient care and more. 

Graduates and loved ones, along with faculty and staff, gathered in Northrop Auditorium to celebrate the 187 graduates. 

Hosted by Community Arts @ Health Sciences, the Spring Exhibition includes artistic pieces from faculty, staff and students. Out of 53 entries, more than 20 works were accepted and put on display in the Health Sciences Education Center in mid-April. Two School of Dentistry faculty and one student were chosen as part of the exhibition.

The ADA 10 under 10 recognizes “10 amazing dentists who graduated from a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation less than 10 years ago,” according to the ADA’s website.

A School of Dentistry faculty member and three students shared information on oral cancer during Goldy vs. Cancer Day at the Science Museum on Saturday, March 18.

School of Dentistry faculty, staff and students participated in the American Dental Education Association’s Annual Session and Exhibition in March.

Faculty cannot alleviate all the stress that comes with these firsts—but Rachel Uppgaard, DDS, clinical associate professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery, knew she could do something to build confidence for her learners.
