Dr. Fanny N. Freund Advanced Education Scholarship
The Dr. Fanny N. Freund Advanced Education Scholarship was established to provide support to advanced education students enrolled at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and who are pursuing a career in academics. Dr. Fanny N. Freund immigrated to America from Poland in 1950 and was a Holocaust survivor. She would go on to earn DDS and MSD degrees from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and practiced as an Orthodontist in Minnesota for almost 50 years.
Details of the Award
Up to $12,000 in scholarship funds will be awarded annually with a maximum of three recipients receiving equal scholarship amounts. Selected recipients will receive scholarships for their studies in the 2024-2025 academic year, with scholarships applied directly to the recipients’ student accounts in the Spring 2025 term.

Award Details
The Office of Academic Affairs will provide an annual Scholars' Award in the form of an academic scholarship for the total amount of $12,000. Selected recipients will receive scholarships for their studies in 2024-2025, with awards applied to their Spring 2025 student accounts. The scholarship may be split among up to three recipients. This award is annually renewable based upon the recipient's performance in the graduate program.
Award Details
The Scholarship for Promoting Excellence through Diversity will provide an annual $12,000 award with a maximum of three recipients receiving equal scholarship amounts. Funds are intended to offset expenses related to the student's academic efforts (such as tuition, fees, books, etc.) and/or diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts (such as research costs, software, travel for conferences/programs, outreach costs, etc.).
