Van B. Haywood, DMD, is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Restorative Sciences, Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. An alumnus of the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, he was in private practice in Augusta, Georgia. Dr. Haywood taught at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill in Operative and Prosthodontics before coming to Augusta University. He co-authored the first publication in the world on at-home tray bleaching and an article on extended treatment of tetracycline-stained teeth using this technique. While he is most known for his research and writings on tray bleaching, he enjoys presenting worldwide on topics including fixed prosthodontics, occlusion, and esthetics.
