John R. Christensen, DDS, MS, MS, is a practicing pediatric dentist and orthodontist, serving as the Division Professor of Pediatric Dentistry and Public Health at the University of North Carolina. He completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard University, his dental degree at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, and an MS in both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. Dr. Christensen has published multiple research articles and has co-authored one of the country’s leading pediatric dental textbooks: Pediatric Dentistry: Infancy Through Adolescence. A member of UNC's Dental Trauma Team, he is also a peer reviewer for the Public Library of Science. Dr. Christensen has prepared test questions for both the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry's Oral Examinations and the National Board Examination given by the American Dental Association. He continues to serve as a board leader for a range of pediatric and orthodontic-focused professional organizations and speaks internationally on a range of pediatric dental topics.
Yasmi Crystal, DDS, DMD, MS, is the founder and senior specialist at Comprehensive Pediatric Dentistry in New Jersey, where she has been in private practice for over 30 years. Concurrently she is a Clinical Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry and serves on the medical staff of the Robert Wood Johnson, Rutgers University Hospital. Dr. Crystal completed her DDS degree from Universidad Tecnologica de Mexico (UNITEC), a DMD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Pediatric Dental specialty training from Eastman Dental Center, University of Rochester, and an MSc in Clinical and Translational Research from CTSI, NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Crystal is a Diplomate and an Examiner for the written and oral sections of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is a past trustee of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), a member of the Editorial Board of Pediatric Dentistry Journal, an AAPD spokesperson, a member of the AAPD Council on Scientific Affairs, and consultant on special projects of Evidence-Based Dentistry. She is an accomplished author of countless peer-reviewed articles and reviewer for several major journals, including Pediatric Dentistry, JDR, JADA, IJPD, BDJ, and JOCPD.
Jerrold Lerman, MD, FRCPC, FANZCA, is a Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Rochester, New York, and the University of Buffalo, The State University of New York. He is also affiliated with the Children's Hospital of Buffalo. He received his medical degree from the University of Toronto Medical School, performed his fellowship in research at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, and completed his residency in anesthesiology at St. Michael’s Hospital. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Toronto General Hospital - University of Toronto. Dr. Lerman is Co-Editor of the renowned textbook, A Practice of Anesthesia for Infants and Children, and has published over 110 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He has also received more than 30 peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed grants. Dr. Lerman has lectured at more than 275 National and International meetings and Universities in 26 countries. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Mike Adragna Mentorship Award from the Department of Anesthesia, University at Buffalo, The State University of New York.
