Learners and faculty engaged in research and collaboration at this year’s Annual Association for Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research General Session in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Members of the School of Dentistry community shared research, networked and learned at this year’s American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Annual Session.

On March 1, the School of Dentistry’s Office of Research and Discovery and Continuing Dental Education hosted the 20th Annual Research Day. Approximately 321 attendees from our school, university, and nation came together to discuss current research undertakings in oral cancer, and showcased progress made at the School of Dentistry and beyond. 

Hosted by Continuing Dental Education and the Office of Research and Discovery, Research Day brings together experts across the discipline to discuss cutting-edge discoveries and showcase progress made at the school and beyond. 

Sarah Aitken, DDS/PhD candidate at the School of Dentistry, received a 2024 American Association for Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) Student Research Travel Award.

Inspired by the school’s mission to advance health through scientific discovery, innovative education and the highest-quality care for all communities, the Research Innovations Seminar Series invites experts to showcase their research and discovery to a wide audience, condensing complex and difficult questions into a digestible format.

Aryan Shekarabi, DDS/PhD student in oral biology, became the first School of Dentistry student to compete in the University of Minnesota’s 3-Minute Thesis competition in November. 

This year was filled with growth, learning and discovery at the School of Dentistry, and our news stories reflected that. We shared 101 stories last year, and our news stories were read more than 51,000 times. 

Four School of Dentistry faculty members received Clinical and Basic Science Faculty Collaborative Pilot Grants through the Office of Research and Discovery.
 

This past year has brought many successes and reasons to celebrate the mission-oriented work we engage in at the School of Dentistry every day.
