Teamwork | A message from the Dean

Dean Keith Mays in lobby of School of Dentistry office.

The Continuing Dental Education (CDE) program has been a rich way for the school to connect with alumni and community practitioners, through our course offerings. This has been remarkable as there are so many groups offering continuing education, webinars, and courses on demand. Last year's search for a director for the program was unsuccessful, and I’m grateful that Dr. Sheila Riggs continues to serve as Interim Director as we continue our search.

Our CDE program provides courses on weekends and evenings, and this requires the hard work of the CDE team. Peg Hanssen and Bethany Carwright have been carrying the heavy water of maintaining the CDE schedule, managing speakers and faculty, overseeing site logistics, coordinating participant registration, and renewing programs or arranging new programs for the next year. Peg and Bethany are a tremendous asset to the School of Dentistry, and I am very appreciative of their hard work and effort to maintain our program during challenging and evolving times.

For many of you, their activity and contribution may go unnoticed, as they work on weekends and evenings, and many times offsite. Their offices are not in a central area where everyone passes regularly. But as a team of two they are helping practitioners meet the educational requirement for licensure. They serve as ambassadors to our practicing community. So, thank you both for your continuing effort to make CDE special.
