If you’re deciding whether the University of Minnesota is the right place for you, our Interim Dean has a message for you. Watch the video below for five reasons you should pick the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.

5 Reasons to Attend the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry
From Interim Dean Keith Mays

  1. We care
We care about our students. And we’re going to do our very best to help you in every possible way that we can during your journey here.

  2. The education.
We want to make sure that you have a great educational experience. Our faculty are committed to giving you the best curriculum they can possibly bring to you. We’ve been integrating active learning using small-groups and case-based experiences, with an integration of clinical, basic, and behavioral sciences. We’ve evolved our curriculum over the past few years, and we will continue to do so.

  3. Your choices
You have a variety of choices when it comes to your program. We have a traditional predoctoral program, the DDS. We also haven multiple specialty programs, as well as dental hygiene and dental therapy. We’re one of the few schools in the country with an active dental therapy program. Several students choose a dual degree with the School of Public Health. There are many opportunities.

  4. Athletics.
As Dr. Mays would say, “I’m an avid athletic enthusiast.” With a Big 10 presence, you can experience all the excitement of athletics outside of the classroom: basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, and more.

  5. Growth. As a School of Dentistry student at the University of Minnesota, you’ll have the opportunity to grow in any way that you possibly can as a student. If you want to be a leader, we have opportunities for you. If you want to do research, there are opportunities to do so. We also engage you in outreach experiences. You’ll have the chance as a student to add to your experiences and curriculum.

Whatever path you choose, we know you’ll grow and thrive at the University of Minnesota. We can’t wait to welcome you soon.
