Buck-Wischmeier named director of Outreach Division

School of Dentistry

Dr. Susan Buck-Wischmeier was named director of the School of Dentistry’s Outreach Division, effective June 8, 2020. She has served in a faculty role at the school since 2013 and as a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Outreach since 2017. She is a graduate of Colorado College and earned a DDS degree from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1996.

“I pride myself in my commitment to my patients, and the students at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry; (I am) always striving for exceptional care, and promoting dental health as a vital component to overall health and wellbeing” Buck-Wischmeier said.

“We are grateful to have an excellent leader like Dr. Buck-Wischmeier for the School of Dentistry’s Outreach Division,” said Dr. Sheila Riggs, chair of the Department of Primary Dental Care. “We are confident that with her leadership experience and her experience in outreach that Dr. Buck-Wischmeier has the skills that are especially important during this time of great change resulting from COVID-19 and necessary to successfully lead the Outreach Division and its portfolio of courses and service initiatives into the future.”

The Division of Outreach provides community outreach experiences for dental, dental therapy, and dental hygiene students in nine community based School of Dentistry affiliate clinics and the Mobile Dental Clinic.
