Hastings becomes Director of the Division of Community Outreach and Engagement

Angela Hastings, DMD, was named Director for the Division of Community Outreach and Engagement, previously known as the Division of Outreach, in the spring of 2023.

Porter becomes Interim Assistant Dean of Student and Resident Affairs

Mercedes Porter, DDS, MA, was named Interim Assistant Dean of Student and Resident Affairs in March. Porter, an alumna of the University of Minnesota Doctor of Dental Surgery program, completed a general practice residency at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and a Master of Arts in Dental Education from the University of the Pacific. In 2011, she joined the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry faculty. Porter has received multiple faculty of the year awards, and assumed additional responsibilities, having recently completed a term as Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs.

Gruenheid named Assistant Dean for Advanced Education

Thorsten Gruenheid, DDS, Dr med dent, PhD, MHA, associate professor in the Division of Orthodontics, became Assistant Dean for Advanced Education effective Monday, September 25, replacing Brent Larson, DDS, MS.
