Periodontal Surgery Workshop: Pocket Reduction and Crown Lengthening

Two of the more common periodontal situations encountered in general practice are treating moderate periodontitis, which has not responded adequately to non-surgical therapy, and teeth with insufficient crown length for access or predictable restoration. Both of these situations may be amenable to treatment with periodontal surgery. Periodontal flap surgery, combined with osseous recontouring, is a predictable technique used to treat patients presenting both conditions. The surgical management of soft tissues and bone is also essential if you intend to perform implant surgery. This workshop uses pig jaw models to provide a “life-like” experience. You will leave the program ready to perform flap preparation, resective osseous surgery, and suturing techniques—all of which can be applied to various clinical situations.

Description

Learn How To

  • Develop a rationale for periodontal treatment
  • Evaluate indications, contraindications, and techniques for periodontal surgery
  • Examine flap design and preparation
  • Implement osseous resective surgery
  • Execute suturing techniques
  • Discuss clinical crown lengthening: treatment analysis, indications, contraindications, and surgical technique
