Emily Pietig, DDS, is the Dental Director of the Native American Community Clinic (NACC), a federally qualified health center. She works to decrease health disparities within the Phillips neighborhood, explicitly focusing on the American Indian/Native American population. Dr. Pietig has a full-time appointment as an assistant clinical professor at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, providing clinical instruction to students during their outreach rotations at NACC. Dr. Pietig graduated from the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry in 2010 and began working at Children's Dental Services, a non-profit pediatric practice in northeast Minneapolis. Dr. Pietig entered the first collaborative management agreement with an advanced dental therapist to expand care to children in need in northeast Minneapolis. Working with Dental Therapists allowed her to focus on providing care to the most complex patients, including treating special-needs children and children affected by early childhood caries in the operating room at Children's Hospital. Recognized in 2015 as one of Children's Hospital's top 50 surgeons, Dr. Pietig continues to expand access to care by speaking about Dental Therapy and the “Minnesota Model.” Before her leadership with NACC, Dr. Pietig was a staff dentist and served as Dental Director of Children's Dental Services.
