This Black History Month, an orthodontics resident is doing his part to honor the legacy of Black historical figures.

Xin Du, DDS, is bringing expertise in orthodontia and digital dentistry to the University of Minnesota–and gaining cultural and scientific knowledge for herself. 

Orthodontics residents and faculty had a strong showing at the 2023 American Association of Orthodontists Annual Session, representing the University of Minnesota with research, networking and more. 

Kim Mansky, PhD, and Amy Tasca, DDS, PhD, are no strangers to working together. In fact, the director of the Minnesota Craniofacial Research Training Program served as the primary advisor to Tasca, holder of the Robert J Isaacson Chair of Orthodontics, during Tasca’s graduate studies. They haven’t stopped working together since.

Brent Larson, DDS, MS, is the Interim Chair of the Department of Developmental and Surgical Sciences, effective Monday, June 20.

Everyday tasks that were once simple can sometimes become complicated and stressful for transgender people. Oral health care shouldn’t be one of them—and researchers across the School of Dentistry are doing their part to make sure that’s the case.
