Entering the first year of undergraduate studies can be an uncertain time for students interested in pursuing dental hygiene. For select learners, the University of Minnesota’s Freshman Guarantee program alleviates that stress.
The School of Dentistry held its annual White Coat Ceremony to welcome incoming clinical learners to the profession on Friday, September 8 at Northrop Auditorium.
The School of Dentistry welcomed 134 incoming learners into the DDS Class of 2027, the Dental Therapy Class of 2026 and the Dental Hygiene Class of 2025.
A total of 134 learners joined the two-day, in-person session to get to know one another, learn about the school and prepare for their first semester as School of Dentistry students.
Yvette Reibel, EdD, LDH, clinical associate professor and clinic director of the Division of Dental Hygiene, received an Award for Excellence in Academic Unit Service from the University of Minnesota.
Rosemary Skriver, BDSH ’22, MDT ’23, received the American Dental Hygienists Association’s 2023 Sigma Phi Alpha Undergraduate Journalism Award for her research on providers’ knowledge and attitudes toward patients with Alzheimer’s Disease. Skriver is the first dental therapy student to receive a national award for her writing.
TEATL grants provide funds to full-time faculty members interested in supporting the acquisition of new technology that will impact the teaching and learning environments of the institution.
