Biography

Dr. Keta Desai is a Clinical Assistant Professor with the Division of Diagnostic and Biological Sciences and Division of Primary Dental care at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. She earned her dental degree and bachelor of science degree with summa cum laude and high honors from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. From her early years of higher education, she has pursued several teaching roles as teaching assistant and tutor. As a dental student, she assisted the radiology department with continuing education courses instructing dental specialists and general dentists in private practice with the use of CBCT imaging softwares. Furthermore, Dr. Desai conducted multiple research projects with departments of oral radiology, orthodontics, diagnostic and biological sciences, and veterinary sciences. She presented undergraduate and graduate research projects at numerous conferences across the country including regional AADR and national IADR conventions.

After working as a general dentist in private practice and as adjunct assistant professor with Department of Restorative Sciences, Dr. Desai accepted a full-time position with the Department of Oral Medicine, Diagnosis, and Radiology and Department of Dental Hygiene. In her current position, she enjoys both didactic and clinical instruction in oral radiology with predoctoral DDS, DH, and DT students. Dr. Desai also routinely teaches continuing education courses in oral radiology including those that address shortage of auxiliary dental professionals in the state of Minnesota. Her professional interests include CBCT imaging, use of technology including data analytics/science in dentistry, and encouraging graduates to pursue roles in dental academia.
