Boyen Huang, DDS, MHA, PhD, became the Assistant Dean for Faculty Development effective January 1, 2024. Karl Self, DDS, MBA, Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, announced the role in an email to faculty and staff in January.

Huang received his DDS from Kaohsiung Medical University, a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Chang Gung University and a PhD in Dental Public Health and Pediatric Dentistry from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. In 2020 he joined the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry faculty in the Division of Dental Public Health.

“I look forward to Dr. Huang’s leadership in this role as he shares his extensive knowledge in dental education and practice to continue to develop quality growth opportunities for our faculty,” said Karl Self, DDS, MBA, Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, in an email to faculty and staff in December.

Huang takes over the role from Christine Blue, DHSc, MS, RDH, who retired from this position and from her role as associate professor of dental hygiene in December. Blue joined the faculty in 1994, serving in multiple leadership roles including Division Director of Dental Hygiene, Clinic Director and, for the last 3 years, Assistant Dean of Faculty Development.

“Please join me in welcoming Dr. Huang to this role and thanking Dr. Blue for her many contributions and her dedication to faculty development in the School of Dentistry,” said Self.
