Biography
Dr. Phonsuda Chanthavisouk is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota (UMN) School of Dentistry (SOD). She earned a Doctor of Health Sciences (DHSc) at the University of the Pacific (2026), a Master in Dental Therapy (MDT) from the UMN SOD (2021), and a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene (BSDH) at the UMN SOD (2020).
Dr. Chanthavisouk’s scholarly work centers on access to care, dental therapy and oral health-related quality of life. Her research aims to advance equity in oral health and strengthen evidence in improving patient outcomes. She first joined the UMN SOD as a Teaching Specialist after graduation and now serves as a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Dental Therapy within the Department of Primary Dental Care. In addition to teaching in didactic, preclinical and clinical settings, she continues to practice as an advanced dental therapist and dental hygienist, and actively contributes to research focused on improving oral health outcomes and expanding access to care.
Chanthaviouk’s professional memberships include American Dental Education Association, Minnesota Dental Therapy Association, American Dental Therapy Association, American Dental Hygiene Association, International and American Associations for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research; and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association.
