Applications to the MSDH take place through the University of Minnesota Graduate School Services.
Applications for the fall semester are due May 15, 2025.
Admissions requirements
Applicants to the Master of Science in Dental Hygiene must have graduated from a school or program in dental hygiene accredited by the Commission on Dental Education and hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average.
Applicants must have taken one undergraduate statistics course prior to matriculation.
Applicants to the Management Track must have taken the GMAT with a minimum score of 500.

All admissions materials must be submitted through the Graduate School.
Required materials
Essay
In the Applicant Statements section of the online application, for Statement #1, please upload an essay describing your short and long term goals, and an explanation of why an advanced degree is of interest.
Resume
Upload a copy of your resume in the Program Supplementary Information section.
Recommendations
Include three (3) references of persons qualified to evaluate your recent work and potential for success in a professional graduate program. List your recommendation providers in the Recommendations section of the online application. An email will be sent to your providers and a link to the system.
Test scores (Management Track only)
The Graduate Management Assessment Track (GMAT) is required for applicants to the Management Track. A minimum score of 500 is required.
When you take the GMAT, please send your scores to the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
If you have already taken the GMAT, please enter your GMAT information into the Test Information-Self Reported section.
The GRE is also accepted. Minimum score: Quantitative 153, Verbal 150.
Additional materials
Your application should also include
- Official transcripts of all previous academic work
- Copies of Dental Hygiene license
- Memberships in professional associations and/or honorary societies
Upon matriculation, photocopies of CPR certification and immunization status will be required.
