Short biography: I was born in Minnesota and pursued my undergraduate studies at the New College of Florida. I conducted my graduate work in virus assembly and evolution at the University of Arizona with Bentley Fane. I then did my postdoctoral research at Michigan State University with Kristin Parent, where I isolated and characterized over a dozen new phages that infect the human pathogen Shigella flexneri. A subset of these phages followed me to the University of Florida where I have established my own research group.
