Meeting the needs of Minnesota. At the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, we educate the next generation of oral health care providers for the state of Minnesota and beyond. We hold a unique responsibility to foster, shape and encourage growth in oral health care providers under the strain of rapidly aging facilities. We must ask ourselves what they could achieve given the right space.
Explore the transformation
We embrace a collaborative curriculum that brings together DDS, Program for Advanced Standing Students (PASS), Dental Therapy and Dental Hygiene students to learn together. Our vision is to provide a revitalized clinical space that matches our collaborative, interdisciplinary care model, focused on team instruction and learning.

Frequently Asked Questions
What floors will be renovated?
The first priority is to enhance the 4th floor pre-clinic to include enough space for all learners to practice and attend class together. Next, we will fully utilize space on the 8th floor to better facilitate team instruction and learning. In addition, we will enhance the newly created Special Health Care Needs clinic located on the 6th floor. We will enhance all of our clinics with cutting-edge technology, from Cone Beam CTs to 3D scanners. Our research facilities will be updated to support our experts as they make discoveries that transform patient care.
How much will the project cost and how will it be funded?
The current estimate to renovate the School of Dentistry is $150 million. The School will seek support from the State of Minnesota through a legislative request, the University of Minnesota, as well individual and corporate donors. As the state's only dental school, we are a vital piece of Minnesota's current and future healthcare needs.
What is the process and timeline?
Moos Tower dental clinics have been added to the University's six year capital plan and the 2026 Legislative Capital Request. The pre-design phase will begin soon, and rolling renovations will begin after legislative support is secured and clinic and instructions schedules have been aligned.
