Peterson named Assistant Dean for Patient Care & Clinical Services

Natalie Peterson, DDS is the School of Dentistry's new Assistant Dean for Patient Care & Clinical Services, effective Monday, January 6, 2025.

Peterson joined the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry as an adjunct assistant professor in 2015 and has since been promoted to clinical associate professor in the Division of Comprehensive Care, serving as Orange Group Leader since 2019. Her previous experience was providing direct patient care in private practice from 2002-2016.

Paul Olin, DDS, MS, Interim Associate Dean for Patient Care & Clinical Services said in an internal announcement that Peterson has, “a wealth of knowledge and insight to lead our students in our comprehensive care clinics.”

Peterson shared that when she was a student, School of Dentistry faculty and staff made a positive influence and created a welcoming learning environment. “My goal when I returned in 2015 was to be there for students, and that continues to be my primary focus,” she said. “Now as Assistant Dean, my goal is to enhance our clinical experience for everyone.”

In the assistant dean role,Peterson will provide strategic support to the School of Dentistry's leadership team and in the implementation of policies and programs. She will also serve as a faculty leader for clinical initiatives across the school.

Peterson plans to lead on streamlining scheduling to allow patients access to more timely care and allow students more educational opportunities to develop their skills. “Faculty and staff collaboration improves our clinical care and efficiency. I'm excited to have this opportunity!”
