Why scholars love to work with us at the MDRCBB

The MDRCBB has an extensive history of working with undergraduate students, predoctoral dental students, post doctoral associates, and visiting scholars through the 3M KOL grants. These partnerships have helped the MDRCBB grow in addition to helping develop researchers and students progress in their careers. Messages from our alumni after a socially distanced Zoom reunion

MDRCBB reunion

"It was a pleasure to see MDRCBB team and I am proud to be part of it. I think this meeting was very opportune and brought a little comfort to everyone in this unique moment that we are going through. All together for science."

"I am proud and honored to be part of the MDRCBB family. It is amazing how science can bring people together, but having this online meeting; during this tough time, showed me how it is unique/exceptional to provide people with the atmosphere that makes them stick together in the hardships of life."

"We discussed and explored together like what the motto said, driven to discover. Also, the meeting provides an opportunity for me to know the researchers I have never meet. That's how the U and science gather us together."

"While being isolated in many ways, this was a fun and informative way to reconnect with our past and present colleagues and visiting scholars who have a special place in our hearts and minds as we go through this unprecedented time in history."

Kol Program

The MDRCBB have received kind donation from 3Mgives to host current and future key opinion leaders (KOLs) in oral health care from developing and underdeveloped countries for short-term visits. The program will provide visitors with monthly stipends, allowing them to carry out study and research in the School of Dentistry into biomaterials, biomechanics and related sciences for the betterment of global oral health. Elements of the program include:

  • Introduction to the latest research and development in the provision of oral health care solutions, carried out by both the School of Dentistry and its industrial partners;
  • Updating of clinical skills by shadowing clinical faculty in the School;
  • Learning of numerical and experimental skills which would allow the KOLs to perform research into the evaluation and design of oral health care solutions using state-of-the-art facilities;
  • Visits to companies to witness how health care products are being conceived, developed, manufactured and tested for patience safety, efficacy and quality assurance;
  • Participation at national or international conferences to further broaden their knowledge in this field and build up their network.

For more information of the program, please contact Dr. Alex Fok at [email protected].
