Biography

Dr. Akl received his dental degree from the University of Sharjah College of Dental Medicine. After a year of practicing general dentistry, he traveled to the United States to pursue further training in esthetic, implant and restorative dentistry. Dr. Akl joined the specialty training program in Prosthodontics at the University of Minnesota, where he graduated with a Diploma in Prosthodontics and a Master of Science degree. The advanced training program focused on esthetic makeovers, implant surgery and fixed, removable and implant prosthetics. He is eligible for certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics.

Dr. Akl is an active member of the American College of Prosthodontists, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, and American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. He is passionate about digital dentistry and using digital technology to enhance patient care which allows him to create precise, predictable and personalized end results that are tailored to every case. Dr. Akl is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Digital Education at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry where he mentors and supervises young dental students in prosthodontics and digital dentistry. He also sees patients at his practice in the Twin Cities.

Dr. Akl has lectured nationally and internationally on various topics of digitally augmented prosthodontics. His current clinical and research interests are focused on esthetic dentistry, color science, digital dentistry and complex reconstructions
