Taking Sleep Apnea Beyond Oral Appliances: Workshop

Obtain necessary knowledge and clinical skills to excel in all the steps of management of OSA in the dental office, through small group discussions and hands-on practice. To ensure one-on-one time with our instructors, we are offering a small format hands-on program for 36 attendees. Groups of 12 participants will rotate through three learning stations, each led by a University of Minnesota faculty member.

Learn How To

  • Evaluate and screen patients for the presence of sleep apnea through history, exam and questionnaires
  • Perform a full evaluation on a patient with sleep apnea
  • Assess dental considerations that may impact appliance selection
  • Identify risks that may alter treatment

During our training, you will also learn how to:

  • Take a bite registration for the fabrication of an oral appliance
  • Fabricate a morning repositioner to help minimize bite changes

Training Methods

  • Materials-based, hands-on activities, case discussions
