Mini Residency in Pediatric Dentistry - March 2023

Enthusiastic, experienced professors and clinical thought-leaders from the University of California Los Angeles School of Dentistry will share advancements in pediatric dentistry. They’ll spend three fast-moving days guiding you through several clinical cases and hands-on workshops relevant to your practice. In addition, you will benefit from the individual attention from faculty and close interaction with fellow course participants afforded by the small class size. After this practical program, you will return to your practice with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to treat children using present-day materials and forward-thinking techniques.

  • Gather medical history and informed consent documentation 
  • Determine the benefits and pitfalls of parents' and caregivers' presence in the operatory 
  • Analyze current prevention methods 
  • Utilize updated strategies to manage pain and anxiety among children 
  • Select the most appropriate restorative procedures and materials
  • Understand assessment and removal of deep carious lesions
  • Diagnose the primary teeth and young permanent teeth pulp status
  • Prepare teeth for pulpotomy and pulpectomy 
  • Manage developing malocclusion in the primary and early mixed dentition 
  • Analyze ectopic eruptions during mixed dentition 
  • Design and fabricate space maintainers 
  • Prepare and restore primary molars with stainless steel crowns 
  • Prepare and restore class I and II primary molar lesions with RMGI 
  • Prepare teeth for pulpotomy and pulpectomy 
  • Implement current techniques in anterior strip crowns and posterior pediatric zirconia crowns
  • Prepare and adapt teeth for zirconia crowns 
  • Evaluate traumatic injuries in the primary and mixed dentition
