Karen K. Daw, MBA, CECM, is an award-winning national speaker, author of numerous articles and CE courses on safety in dentistry, and a trainer for practices and healthcare systems across the country. She earned her BA from the Ohio State University and her MBA, concentrating on Healthcare Administration and Business Management. After graduating, Karen the Emergency Department recruited her to serve as Assistant Director of Sterilization Monitoring and Health and Safety Director for the OSU College of Dentistry. Karen is a proud member of the Organization for Safety Asepsis and Prevention, where she also served as co-chair for their Annual Conference and Infection Control Boot Camp.
Lisa Netzer, JD, is an attorney with Minnesota Transitions, a law firm specializing in integrated dental and legal services. Her legal experience includes work in private practice, civil litigation defense, and employment law. She completed her undergraduate and legal studies at the University of Minnesota. She has worked with the Hennepin County Judicial Branch; as an Associate Attorney with Maslon, Edelman, Borman, and Brand; the City of Bloomington; and the Minnesota Department of Corrections. She is admitted to practice within the State of Minnesota and the U.S. District Court.
Jaime Slaughter-Acey, PhD, is an Assistant Professor within the Division of Epidemiology and Community Health within the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. She completed her undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University, her Master's degree in Maternal and Child Health at Tulane University, and doctoral work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research focuses on environmental and psychosocial factors that contribute to women's health across the life course, emphasizing the maternal and child health (MCH) of marginalized/underserved populations. She received the Matilda White Riley Early-stage Investigator Award from the NIH Office of Behavioral and Social Science Research. Inducted into Delta Omega, an Honorary Society in Public Health, her work has been featured in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, the Journal of Urban Health, Material and Child Health Journal, and Nature Views Neurology. She is the Principal Investigator of the NIH-funded grant, "Beyond Black and White: Understanding Skin Tone as a Driver of Prepregnancy Cardiometabolic Health and Birth Outcomes."
Timothy Smith, PhD, is a professor of sustainable systems management and International Business at the University of Minnesota. He is also the founding director of the NorthStar Initiative for Sustainable Enterprise at the Institute on the Environment. Dr. Smith completed his undergraduate work at the University of Colorado, Boulder, his MBA at Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University, and his doctoral work at Penn State. He has developed integrative approaches to sustainable systems performance measurement and decision-making within the contexts of supply chain management, product/process design, marketing, and public policy throughout his career. His research has been published in a broad array of top-tier scholarly journals and highlighted in Bloomberg, The Conversation, Huffington Post, and The Guardian. Dr. Smith actively advises governmental agencies on energy and public procurement policies and consults numerous companies and organizations on advancing sustainability.
