
HIV infection is a worldwide epidemic—cutting through barriers of race, gender, and age. Approximately 1.2 million patients in the United States are affected by this infection alone. Learn about the etiology, transmission, oral manifestations, and management of an HIV-infected patient. You will learn about medical and dental considerations when performing procedures on an HIV-infected dental patient. You'll learn how to apply principles of infection control to protect dental professionals and patients. Post-exposure prophylaxis of occupational injury while treating an HIV patient and currently available treatment will be discussed.
