Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease affecting all age groups. It is one of the most common disorders and it is said to affect almost 20 million people in the United States. Patients suffering from diabetes have numerous oral manifestations and as such dental practitioners must become familiar with this disorder. 

You will review the pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy commonly used to treat diabetes and discuss the drugs used and their Adverse Drug Reactions and Drug Interactions. You’ll reexamine the oral manifestations and complications of diabetes mellitus and the common medical emergencies that may be encountered in your practice.
